Oh right. This is the best place to work.
Not new news but I thought I should follow-up on my looking into work places that are better than Google (their office in Zurich is currently the 4th best place to work). This wins by a whole lot.
In January of last year approx. 34,000 people applied for the job of island caretaker for the islands of the Great Barrier Reef off of Queensland, Australia. And some guy Ben won. He gets to explore the island and then blog about it. I hate him. Here is his itinerary, you can follow what he’s doing and sob to yourself in your pod. Well… that’s what I’m doing.

And if the beauty of it all isn’t enough to make you jealous (PS, there is something wrong with you) he’ll make a $150,000 salary for 6 months!
Fucker.
Would you like ketchup with that blueprint?
The first ever “Open Source” restaurant has opened in Amsterdam this month. The clever people from instructables.com have created a live forum for people to come in for a meal and learn how to make everything from the food they just ate to the chairs on which they sat.
This live interface is part of a funny new trend that is bringing people back together… genius! Like 4 squares, it is using the web to link people together and then they meet up in real life. What a concept.
instructables.com is a web-based documentation platform where “passionate people share what they do and how they do it, and learn from and collaborate with others”. You can learn to make a pen or even a car riiighttt here: http://www.instructables.com/
Yes it is FW Fashion show time… however, as I look outside of my office window at the gloomy, shitty weather I can’t help but A) Look for trips online that involve a beach and B) Get excited for Spring - Summer. So here are some of my favourite prints from the SS10 collections.
Prada SS10
Erdem SS10

Burberry and D&G coming to you live. -
Live streaming is very quickly becoming a very natural part of a broadcast plan. From movies to concerts, streaming your show is how you get more eyeballs on your work and it allows people like me to gain access to a Victoria’s Secret show in New York or a Madonna concert live in Tokyo. The world can come together and enjoy a common thread.
What would a trend be without the trendsetters catching on and in turn - creating whole new trends along the way. Today, Burberry Prorsum is streaming the first ever live Catwalk show. They are expecting 100 million viewers worldwide. They will be streaming from London Fashion Week at five simultaneous private events in New York, Paris, Dubai, Tokyo and Los Angeles - where it will be shown in 3D.

Blaise Aguera y Arcas demos augmented-reality maps -
A MUST see.
Blaise Aguera y Arcas is the creator of Seadragon an optimizer for Photosynth. Photosynth itself is “a vastly powerful piece of software capable of taking a wide variety of images, analyzing them for similarities, and grafting them together into an interactive three-dimensional space”. Seadragon allows us to look around corners or “fly” in for a (much) closer look. Like Google Streets.
He also talks about the World Wide Telescope (WWT)… You can zoom into the moon!!! WTF?

This shit is crazy.
Fantastic idea. Showcases the 99 most popular songs in the world today, this week, this month. Mainstream or Emerging, by genre. Keeping consumers in the music know.
Have a listen:
